Fix for When You Can’t Change Your Password in TweetDeck

TweetDeck and How to Change Your PasswordRecently I changed my Twitter password. Normally this is a simple, straight-forward process. I change my password at Twitter, then for any other applications or web sites I use that also require access to my Twitter account, I update my Twitter password. Well, this is where things went nuts – TweetDeck flew the coop and wouldn’t let me change my password.

I started noticing tweets from others having the same issue. Oddly enough, this problem was only occurring on my laptop, not my desktop – so I bypassed the issue and used Seesmic Desktop on my laptop.  However, the problem was still there and I finally decided to tackle the issue.

First I uninstalled TweetDeck and reinstall, thinking perhaps it was a faulty file from a recent upgrade. That did not resolve the problem.

After more tinkering, I did find the solution, hopefully it will also work for those of you also having this problem.

The Fix When TweetDeck Won’t Let You Change Your Password

  • Open TweetDeck
  • Click Settings icon, upper right corner
  • Click Accounts tab
  • Click the account you need to change the password for, click Edit
  • Type in your new password in the password field
  • Click ‘Add New Account’
  • Click Save

That’s it! This is what did it for me. It was that extra step of clicking the ‘Add New Account’ button that seemed to do it and allow me to actually Save my changes, where before it wouldn’t.

I’m fairly certain this is either something new with the latest version of TweetDeck, or a bug; but this got the job done for me and allowed me to save my new password.

Let me know if this resolves the problem for you.

To your success,

TweetDeck Multi-Account Is HERE! & More!

Finally, after what seemed like forever waiting, today TweetDeck released v0.26 and along with that comes multi Twitter account capabilities, you can choose to display someone’s follower count below their avatar, TweetDeck now has a Recommends feature – click the icon at the top, and it opens a new column of tweeple they recommend you follow.

Also, you can now have unlimited columns, and even better – your columns and groups are now saved when you close them! This is a huge plus – no more losing all your Groups if you need to make room for more columns, of course with unlimited columns, that may no longer be an issue, but it’s nice to know you can close them if you need to and the information is saved.

Another plus I noticed, when I do click the Groups icon, it loads much MUCH faster. Previously, it would take forever and a day to load, as it was loading up my entire following list, now – it’s super fast to load, and any previously closed Groups are also displayed for you to reload, just click the ‘Load Group’ button and you’re back in business.

Also coming today – TweetDeck app for the iPhone!

Big day indeed for TweetDeck! I’m lovin’ it! So far, this version is not being auto-pushed, so you may need to go download it like I did to get the latest version. TweetDeck.com

TweetDeck & People Browsr to Get Twitter Multi-Account Capabilities

TweetDeck and People Browsr! Yes folks – it’s true. This week I’ve been chatting it up all over Twitterville with folks about TweetDeck and People Browsr and what I love about both of these applications, is that their Community Managers are in tune to what’s being said about their product and jump in to answer questions and interact with the users of their product. I like that. Very social-like. ;)

Here’s what @richardbarley, Community Manager for @TweetDeck had to say about Twitter multi-account capabilities coming to TweetDeck:

Richard saw my conversation between someone on Twitter about multi accounts in TweetDeck, so he jumped in to answer. Very cool! Thanks Richard!

I had a similarly interactive experience with the fine folks at PeopleBrowsr.com this week regarding the upcoming Twitter multi-account capabilities. Priscilla, from People Browsr, was even gracious enough to comment on my People Browsr blog post.

I am very excited about the changes and new features these two applications are coming up with – my only issue, is deciding which one I will use! I love them both, and I also like Seesmic Desktop.  They each have their own unique features that I like.  I guess I’ll have to rotate between them, because honestly, at this point, it’s too close to call for me.

Which one is your preference: TweetDeck, People Browsr or Seesmic Desktop?
