Failure is Success, If We Learn From It

I’m sure you’ve seen this quote about failure and success:

I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.
Thomas Alva Edison

How many times have you seen this quote applied to help make people feel better when they’ve failed at something – particularly in business? The idea is that failure is useful, if we learn from it and avoid repeating that which caused the failure. The mis-application of this concept, as applied to internet marketing, happens often.

But let’s put this in perspective: Thomas Edison was trying to invent a brand new thing. There were no lightbulbs. He was creating it from an idea in his head! So naturally, in this instance, failure is part of the progress to success.  I’m very thankful that Edison stuck with it, as I like my lightbulbs. :)

Internet Marketing vs. the Light Bulb

If you are trying to succeed in internet marketing or any business: folks, I hate to break it to you, but that is not the same as inventing the light bulb! We do not need to reinvent the wheel to succeed in internet marketing!

Of course, there are ways one could take the overall idea of internet marketing and make it their own, forge a new path to success with a brand new concept. But most things in business are not lightbulbs; they have already been done, we just need to put into action those things that work.

Inventor or Entrepreneur?

You need to decide: are you an inventor or an entrepreneur? If you are an entrepreneur looking to succeed in internet marketing, then stop trying to re-invent lightbulbs and wheels and take action on those practices and principles that have proven to work.

Internet Marketing that Works

I am guessing that unless you just heard the term internet marketing today, you have probably already spent hundreds of hours and perhaps thousands of dollars studying and learning about internet marketing. Am I right? You are not alone, this is a common thing; but have you taken action on any of it? Are you putting into practice those things which you already know?

Don’t let anyone fool you, internet marketing is work. Yes, there are some forms of internet marketing that once you get it all up and running and generating income, it could continue to produce passive income. But it takes work to get it to that point.

Roadblocks to Success

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve talked with someone who has spent days trying to figure out why their blog isn’t working after an upgrade, or struggling to customize their blog theme, or they have no clue what FTP is and how to use it, or they have a product they want to sell, but can’t figure out how to setup a sales page, get the order button to work with a shopping cart to redirect folks first to a squeeze page, then to checkout, get them on an autoresponder list and eventually land the customer on the digital download page.

Internet marketing is technical in its simplicity.

It sounds simple in theory, but in practice it requires technical knowledge and skill to effectively deliver your ideas and products to your market.

The Lone Ranger & Tonto: a Team That Worked Together

Why are you still struggling and fighting with the technical aspects of running an internet marketing business that should be simple? Because you’re probably like so many others, you are trying to do it all. You’re being a Lone Ranger entrepreneur and not seeking help for the parts of your business that are keeping you from making progress and earning money.

Even the Lone Ranger had Tonto.

So hire yourself a Tonto, or better yet, a Team of Tontos and outsource those aspects of your business that are a stumbling block to your success. Don’t let another day go by where you are struggling to reach your goals.

If you keep doing what you’ve always done, you’ll keep getting what you’ve always gotten.

Stop doing the same thing and expecting different results. Stop going in circles and change direction. Failure becomes success, when you learn from it.

Hire an outsourcing services Team to help you change the direction of your business from failure to success.

Free Internet Marketing Consultant: Google

Time is moneyAs an internet marketer and web designer, I am frequently contacted by, I’m sure, well-meaning folks who just want to ‘Ask me a quick question.’  Kathleen Gage recently posted about this topic on her blog. She sums up the issue we internet marketers have with ‘quick questions’ that folks want answered for free, and why we can not do this without going broke.

I love to help people. My personal motto is: Honor God. Help People. I do that every day; of the time and place of my choosing. I’m in control of my time – I have to be. My free information is located right here on this blog (genesisblogging.com) and I have a lot of free information here. I also post in Lynn Terry’s free public forum, as well as her Private Elite forum, and of course on Twitter and Facebook. However, there has to be limits on what I share and when.

Why the limits?
Because time is money. I could literally spend all day answering everyone’s questions for free, then would have no time to actually make the money I need to help support my family and pay my bills.

If you want a free internet marketing consultant, try Google. ;)
I don’t mean to sound snarky or ugly, but Google is your friend when it comes to finding free information.  I know most folks are not intentionally taking someone’s time without considering the cost; but it is something that needs to be said.

Searching for the Easy Button
For those few folks that are contacting internet marketers and asking Easy Buttonquestions in search of an ‘Easy Button’, or a short-cut to their own success to find the missing puzzle piece as to why they are not successful themselves; or assuming that the internet marketing ‘guru’ as some missing ‘It’ that they don’t have…. NEWS FLASH: there is no missing anything – except you taking action. The only ‘Easy Button’ is this one you can buy at Staples for $4.99.

Internet Marketing Consultant One-on-One Coaching

If you need one-on-one help, most internet marketers have a coaching program (me included) and you can get the help you need. Yes, it costs money – but if you are not able to make progress using Google to provide you with the information you need, and/or you need more specific questions answered to help you move to the taking action phase so you can get to profit in your business – then invest in coaching! It’s worth it.

To YOUR Success,

P.S. If you need coaching, I have coaching time slots available.
