CBC Kelly: Hidden Hacks & Security Holes

This is a continuation of my cross blog conversation with Kelly McCauseyabout her Hot Seminar Series where I will be speaking about WordPress security on June 30, 2010.

You can read Kelly’s original post to me here, and my reply here, and her latest question for me is here.

Kelly’s latest question for me:

I hope you’ll be speaking to the importance of working with a solid web host during your talk on security as well?

Another question for you, I think some people think of a ‘hack’ as being super obvious, but isn’t it true that some WordPress hacks are quite subtle and hard to spot?

My Reply: Hidden Hacks & Security Holes

Absolutely I’ll be discussing the need for good web site hosting that understands server vulnerabilities and how to best prevent issues before they arise.

You’re right – not all hacks are as obvious as your site being hijacked by alien Tribbles with attitude! Some hacks gain access to your site and start sending out spam or upload vulnerable scripts to your server…. all without you having a clue this is going on. A good web host will monitor this type of activity and contact you if they notice a problem.

Next week, I’ll discuss what you need to do to keep your blog safe and secure.

Talk with you next week!

To YOUR Success,

Traci
